Keisha attended Westchester High School (Westchester, California) and graduated in 1984 at the age of 17.[1] She's multi-ethnic; from her father's side she is Spanish, Mexican, and American Indian, and on her mother's side, she's Swedish and English.[2] She says that she was "always very sexual and even before I lost my virginity (at the age of 14), I had a reputation as a slut".[1] She had been employed as a legal secretary, but wanted to do something more exciting so she took a job as a phone sex operator.[3] In February 1986, the owner of the phone sex company where she worked took her to the XRCO Awards, which led to her start in porn. "People kept coming up to me and asking me if I was an actress and when I’d say no, they said 'Oh, you should be.' But what really hooked me was that when Traci Lords came onstage, a girlfriend of mine from the fantasy phone call company, leaned over to me and said, 'You see that girl there, she drives a Ferrari.' Good sex and a lot of money, that sounded great to me".
After the awards show, she talked to everyone she could who knew anything about the business in an effort to get more information as to whether this would really be something she would like to do. After about a month she decided to do both movies and magazines.[1]
In March 1986 she appeared in her first adult feature, entitled Reckless Passion with co-stars Frank James and Candy Evans. A female performer had backed out of a scene, and Keisha stepped in to replace her. She went on to appear in over 225 films.[4]
In January 1987, she began stripping as a "feature dancer", making appearances at different strip clubs across the United States and Canada in which she would appear as the "star attraction" for the week. She would generally perform 4 shows a night, along with autograph signing sessions in which patrons could get a polaroid picture taken with her, an autographed 8X10 or a lap dance.[1]
Beginning in 1990/1991, she slowed down on making movies and focused mainly on feature dancing. She danced on the road about one to two weeks a month and would make a movie occasionally "just to keep something new out there".
In 1996, she decided to attend college, wanting a break from the porn business. Upon graduation, she returned to porn in 1999.[1]
Keisha is a member of both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame,and was also inducted into the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame.
In 2006, Keisha appeared in a mainstream movie, portraying "Michelle the Pitching Machine" in the Artie Lange comedy Beer League.
